A few weeks ago I was in the USA on a family holiday. We started in Chicago and went on a two and a half week road trip following the Mississippi River to New Orleans. We then flew from New Orleans to Orlando and went to Walt Disney World. While we were at Disney World we had a great time. We did have two days at our resort due to Hurricane Irma but apart from that it was a very enjoyable time.
At Disney World there is four main parks, two water parks and Disney Springs which is a shopping area with bars and restaurants. While we were there we did not go to the water parks but did go to al four main parks and Disney Springs. The four parks at Disney World were Magic Kingdom which is the iconic park with the castle. In Magic Kingdom there are 5 different lands within the park which are Main Street USA, Tommorowland, Fantasyland, Frontierland and Adventureland. The next park was Epcot ( Experimentel Prototype Community Of Tommorow). Epcot is split into two main areas: Future World and World Showcase. Future World is based around science and technology and World Showcase is a lake surrounded by 11 different pavilions representing different countries from around the world. The next park is Hollywood Studios which is themed around Hollywood and movies and had lots of things about Star Wars and movie making. The final park is Animal Kingdom which is the newest park and is themed on animals. Animal Kingdom has 6 different areas within the park which are Oasis, Pandora- World of Avatar, Africa, Asia, Discovery Island and Dinoland U.S.A.
There was so many awesome rides at Disney World but I am just going to go over my top three.
3: At number three is Test Track in Future World at Epcot You start off the ride by designing your car. Dad and I designed ours together and I was pretty happy with it. After designing your car you move on to the testing stage. We strapped ourselves in and then we were off. The ride started off by winding around inside the building and then we stopped. It was time for the power test. We accelerated and we were heading strait for the wall but then at the last second the wall opened up and we zoomed outside. As soon as we were outside I felt the air blowing in my face. We went round a few corners and then we went down a big strait. We built up speed until we were going 70mph ( 112 kph) which is the fastest speed you go out of all the Disney World rides. As we banked up on the side of the track I felt like I was getting sucked out of my seat. We then slowed back down and came to a stop after that thrilling ride.
2: My second favorite was was the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in Fantasy Land in Magic Kingdom. I hopped in to the wooden mine train. We wound our way through the Enchanted Forest and then went through the mining tunnel. We climbed our way slowly up the the tunnel and as we got to the top we shooted out into the open. It was so much fun as we curved around randomly dipping and going over lots of bumps and humps. As we got to the end of the ride we went past Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. It was great fun and it is one that I will remember for a long time.
1: Now for my favorite ride in Walt Disney World at number 1 is Flight of Passage in Pandora- World of Avatar at Animal Kingdom. Pandora was amazing it is like your in the movie. There was even the island that were almost floating in the air. Flight of Passage is the newest ride in the whole of Disney World and has only been open about six months. It is a simulator ride where you ride on the back of a Banshee through Pandora. I walked into the simulator room and there were about ten motorbike type things lined up. I hopped on one of them and got fastened into place. It felt like you were actually sitting on the back of a Banshee which is a flying dinosaur type creature in the movie Avatar. You could even feel the Banshee pulsing between your legs. As we took of it was amazing it was so real I even could feel the wind blowing in my face and I could smell the plants and water as we flew through this amazing land dipping and diving under floating islands.
My time at Walt Disney World in Orlando was incredible it was like you were inside a massive bubble. It really is one of the most magical places on earth.

Performance Immersion
This week I have been doing the performance immersion. We started off by describing creativity and drama. We then moved on to some drama games. One of the games we did we had act out something and the rest of the class joined in if they could work out what we were doing. We have also been working on dance. In dance we looked at why people dance and how everybody dances for different reason. We then got into groups and made shapes with our body using different dance techniques. It was a new experience for me and it definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone.

Bridge project experiment
In the last two weeks Callan and I have been working on the second half of our project which was the experiment data analysis and the conclusion. We built the bridge out of popsicle sticks and glued them together with hot glue. To put weight on the bridge we used books and weights to put on top of the bridges. One problem we ran into was since our bridges were quite small balancing everything on top of the bridges. Our hypothesis was proved wrong in that the beam bridge and the deck truss bridge both could hold 4 kgs and that surprisingly the warren truss bridge could only hold 3 kgs. But we did find that the warren truss bridge was the hardest to balance things on which could have affected how much weight it could hold. In the end our experiment went quite well and we learnt a lot.

Bridge project
Lately I have been working in a group with Callan on a bridge project. Our question was which bridge design could hold the most weight. The bridges we chose were the beam bridge, warren truss bridge and the deck truss bridge. Our hypothesis is that the deck truss bridge will be able to hold the most weight and that the beam bridge will be able to hold the least weight. At the moment we are up to the eperiment stage of our project.

Cricket Explanation
Cricket is a bat and ball sport which is played worldwide in many different countries. Cricket is a team sport played by 11 players on a 22 yard pitch ( normally grass or astroturf ) Cricket is one of the world's most popular sports and is played by 104 countries 12 of which are full members.
In a cricket match there is a that is batting and a team that is bowling. This is decided by a coin toss between the two captains at the start of the match and the winner of this gets to choose whether they want to bat or bowl. On a cricket pitch there are 3 wooden stumps with two bails on top. In a test match which is the traditional format of the game each team get two innings( each phase of play) to bat. The fielding teams objective is to bowl the batting team all out for the least amount of runs possible. There is ten ways a batsman can get out. 5 ways are very common and 5 ways are very rare. Bowled, caught, stumped, run out, timed out, obstructing the fielder, timed out, hit wicket, leg before wicket ( lbw) and handled ball . When the fielding team gets the batting team all out then they go into bat. This happens twice and whoever gets the most runs wins the match.
Cricket is a very old game and started sometime in the 1500s. The first ever official cricket match was held in 1844 between the USA and Canada which was played at ST George’s Cricket Club in New York and then the first ever Test match was played on the 15th of March 1877 when Australia beat England by 45 run in Melbourne. A long time after this was when New Zealand started to get into cricket and played their first test match in 1930 against england . This in when a lot of other countries came into the mix playing cricket.
Cricket has evolved a heap since the 1500s. There are bigger bats , lots more runs scored and lots more countries that play cricket. Recently Afghanistan and Ireland have been approved as Full Members by the ICC, meaning they have become cricket's 11th and 12th Test-playing nations. Apart from test cricket there are 2 other recently invented formats of the game. These formats of the game are made to be a shorter more exciting for the fans. The two formats of the game are a one day match where both teams get 50 overs each to bat and there is a T20 match where both teams get 20 overs to bat each. There is also a very new type of test match called a day/night test and is played with a pink ball.
There is so much history in cricket and the game has changed so much. There is a lot of new countries that are getting introduced to the game and it will continue to grow for a long time.

Energy explanation
Energy is everywhere. Energy is power. Energy comes in two basic forms, potential energy and kinetic energy. In the article from Burn an energy journal, it states “Potential Energy is any type of stored energy. It can be chemical, nuclear, gravitational, or mechanical”[ site visited 15/6/2017]. Kinetic energy is energy that is found in movement . The different kinds of kinetic energy is motion, thermal, sound electromagnetic radiation and electric . Energy is used all the time everywhere . It’s all around us and even inside of us. Energy is very important in our everyday lives. Some of the different ways energy is used in our everyday lives are residential energy, transportation energy and human and animal energy.
The first way that energy is used in our everyday lives is residential energy. Residential energy is the most basic uses of energy. They include heating and lighting your home, watching tv, working from home on your computer, cooking and flushing the toilet. In the article from renewable energy world it states that “ residential uses of energy account for almost forty percent of total energy use globally” [ site visited 19/6/2017]. If I asked you what you think about energy most people would probably think of this kind of energy. Another common type of energy is transportational energy.
Human and all living things need energy. Without energy we would not be able to survive. We use food, water and sleep as our energy. When you sleep it’s like you are charging yourself. Food is our fuel. It is what petrol is to a car. Without food we would slowly get tired and eventually die after about 3-4 weeks. But you can only survive up to a week without water but this can change depending on the climate. But if we want to keep our food sources we need to only take what we need.
Energy saving is simple. To save energy at home it’s as simple as flicking a switch or turning off the shower. A big problem worldwide is the issue of global warming and we need a way to stop this. One recent invention that can help solve this issue is electric cars. To save our food sources we should only take what we need and don’t take anything under the legal size.
Energy is the power to everything. Energy is everywhere. Without it there would be nothing There is so many different ways that we use energy and without it we could not survive.

Candle experiment
On Tuesday we did a candle experiment. First we observed the candle and wrote down what we could see and what changed over time. Then we had a question that was, would the amount of oxygen that the flame got affect the amount of time the candle burned? My hypothisis was that the candle with the least amount of oxygen would go out the quickest. For our experiment we got three glasses and put them over the flame so that no oxegen could get in. My hypothisis was proved right in the fact that the candle under the smallest glass therefore the least amount of oxygen burnt for the least amount of time and the candle under the biggest glass burned the longest. It was a fun experiment and I learned a lot from it.
