Energy explanation

Energy is everywhere. Energy is power. Energy comes in two basic forms, potential energy and kinetic energy. In the article from Burn an energy journal, it states “Potential Energy is any type of stored energy. It can be chemical, nuclear, gravitational, or mechanical”[ site visited 15/6/2017]. Kinetic energy is energy that is found in movement. The different kinds of kinetic energy is motion, thermal, sound electromagnetic radiation and electric. Energy is used all the time everywhere. It’s all around us and even inside of us. Energy is very important in our everyday lives. Some of the different ways energy is used in our everyday lives are residential energy, transportation energy and human and animal energy.

The first way that energy is used in our everyday lives is residential energy. Residential energy is the most basic uses of energy. They include heating and lighting your home, watching tv, working from home on your computer, cooking and flushing the toilet. In the article from renewable energy world it states that “ residential uses of energy account for almost forty percent of total energy use globally” [ site visited 19/6/2017]. If I asked you what you think about energy most people would probably think of this kind of energy. Another common type of energy is transportational energy.

Transportational energy is all the fuel that powers vehicles. This includes all vehicles from cars to trucks and buses. This also includes trains, planes, helicopters and boats. In the article from U.S. Energy Information Administration it states that “ The United States is a nation on the move. About 29% of U.S. energy consumption in 2016 was for transporting people and goods from one place to another.” ( site visited 20/6/2017) A bike is a vehicle but it’s energy comes from a human which brings us to our next point which is about human and animal energy.

Human and all living things need energy. Without energy we would not be able to survive. We use food, water and sleep as our energy. When you sleep it’s like you are charging yourself. Food is our fuel. It is what petrol is to a car. Without food we would slowly get tired and eventually die after about 3-4 weeks. But you can only survive up to a week without water but this can change depending on the climate. But if we want to keep our food sources we need to only take what we need.

Energy saving is simple. To save energy at home it’s as simple as flicking a switch or turning off the shower. A big problem worldwide is the issue of global warming and we need a way to stop this. One recent invention that can help solve this issue is electric cars. To save our food sources we should only take what we need and don’t take anything under the legal size.

Energy is the power to everything. Energy is everywhere.Without it there would be nothing There is so many different ways that we use energy and without it we could not survive.

Candle experiment

On Tuesday we did a candle experiment. First we observed the candle and wrote down what we could see and what changed over time. Then we had a question that was, would the amount of oxygen that the flame got affect the amount of time the candle burned? My hypothisis was that the candle with the least amount of oxygen would go out the quickest. For our experiment we got three glasses and put them over the flame so that no oxegen could get in. My hypothisis was proved right in the fact that the candle under the smallest glass therefore the least amount of oxygen burnt for the least amount of time and the candle under the biggest glass burned the longest. It was a fun experiment and I learned a lot from it.

Dispositional goal

Over the last few weeks for my dispositional goal I have been working on getting all my follow ups quickly so that I do not have to worry about them later and so that I keep on top of my follow ups. I think that I have done quite well with most of them although I could still get some of my follow ups done quicker. I also think that to make it easier for myself I should focus on one follow up at a time instead of doing parts of each one. Overall I think I have done quite well but there is still room for improvement.
